ICL recruits set to be grabbed by Kolkata Knight Riders
Looks like the Indian Premier governing council clearing the way for the induction of the ‘rebel’ Indian Cricket League players, some of the franchises have started to evaluate available players who could make a difference in the third edition of the T20 extravaganza.
The Kolkata Knight Riders, who had a sad show in the previous edition in South Africa, are seriously pondering a few foreign players (who did well in the ICL) for a change of fortunes in the third edition of this high-profile event.
Although the team management declined to comment over the matter, insiders in the KKR camp have mentioned that Justin Kemp, Craig McMillan, Azhar Mahmood and Imran Nazir could be the franchises’ likely players.
“It’s too early to talk names since a formal approval (from the BCCI) is pending. But yes, we are ready to draft the ICL players in the squad as soon as there are no other formalities remaining,†a KKR source said. “At the same time, you have the explosive Imran Nazir, who could be destructuve on his day,†he added.
Apart from the foreign players, KKR also seemed to be interested with Rajagopal Sathish and Ganpathy Vignesh, both of whom represented Chennai Superstars in the ‘rebel’ league.
It certainly is good news for the tournament and for the rebel stars who were left in a lurch not long ago. We have a game on guys!
